Pay on time to avoid penalties
To minimise the risk of incurring penalties, Council recommends payment of rate instalments by Direct Debit.
Penalties are charged on rates that are not paid by the required date.
- A first additional charge of 10% will be added under section 57 & 58 of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 to any portion of the current instalment not paid before the due date shown.
- Under section 57 & 58 of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002, an additional penalty will be added on 10 July and 10 January of each year to any rates remaining unpaid from previous financial years.
Penalties imposed are exempt from GST. All Payments are allocated to the oldest debt first. No receipt will be issued unless requested.
If legal action has to be taken to recover unpaid rates and charges you will be liable for all collection costs that may occur.
