Wharewhare
This is a bingo style game developed by Youth and Children’s Librarian Kate Fairhurst to celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. This game has been a hit with kaiako and ākonga from all around Whakaahurangi District and Kate would like to share it with them.
Instructions:
- Download both the Wharewhare and calling card files below.
- Print as many Wharewhare boards as you need – this set is suitable for up to 17 players!
- Print the calling cards
One person is the caller and they call out the kupu from the calling cards. Other players have a board each.
Players put a counter on the picture that matches the kupu called – we used milk bottle tops for counters.
When you have matched all the pictures on your board and your board is full, call out “wharewhare” - you are the winner!
