Our wastewater service involves the planning, provision and maintenance of reticulation systems and wastewater treatment and disposal, and associated infrastructure for the Stratford urban area.
Our system services over 2,200 properties, or 97 percent of the Stratford urban area. All other dwellings in the District are serviced by septic tanks that are the responsibility of individual property owners.
The Stratford system consists of approximately 40km of pipes that discharge into an oxidation pond treatment facility on Victoria Road.
The main users of the system are residential dwellings. Discharge from commercial properties is primarily domestic although there are two local industries that have a specific commercial use of the system.
The current user charges for the Wastewater activity are listed in the Council's Fees and Charges.
They are reviewed annually and are aligned to Council’s Funding Policy rates of return.
