Open for feedback: Stratford Primary School transport network plans
We’re making improvements to the transport network around Stratford Primary School. Our aim is to make it safer for families to travel to and from school, and other key destinations in Stratford.
Community feedback on the proposed transport safety improvements is open until 4pm 21 March 2025, with plans and information available online at YourSay.Stratford.govt.nz
SDC Director - Assets Victoria Araba says the proposed improvements aren’t new to the community, with the options available incorporating feedback SDC received during the Transport Choices programme in 2023.
“Our vision for safe streets around schools hasn’t changed. As part of our Connecting our Communities Strategy we’ve been working on improving opportunities for safer travel to school and to reduce congestion on our roads. This has included reviewing speed limits around our schools and making improvements to the road layout,” says Victoria.
“We’ve committed budget in our annual roading programme to move forward with some important changes to the streets surrounding Stratford Primary School, but before we start the physical work, we’re seeking final feedback on the options available to us.”
The proposed transport network changes will take place on Regan Street, Brecon Road, and Portia Street. Work is scheduled to start in May 2025 after community feedback is considered.
