Donations for Stratford’s Mayoral Christmas Gift Appeal open Friday
Stratford District Mayor Neil Volzke is making sure there’s plenty of room under the Christmas trees at Council’s Service Centre and the Stratford Library and Visitor Information Centre.
On Friday 29 November, the Stratford Mayoral Christmas Gift Appeal begins, and community members can place their gift donations under the trees for kids and grown-ups that need some extra cheer during the holiday season.
Mayor Neil Volzke says, “Christmas can be a really tough time, and it comes at the end of what’s been a hard year for many people. But one thing that I see shown year after year is that we’ve got a community here that comes through for each other.”
“Please visit our trees and leave a gift or some Christmas treats if you can. I personally deliver your donations to people and families in our community, and I can honestly say that your generosity is deeply appreciated and brings joy to so many faces.”
The following donations are welcome:
- Books for all ages
- New toiletry products for all ages
- Non-perishable food and Christmas Day treats, such as Christmas Cake, chocolate, biscuits, and crackers
- Family board games
- Summer-fun toys, like sports equipment, outdoor games, and something for the beach
Pre-loved soft toys cannot be accepted, but people can donate other pre-loved toys or books as long as they’re clean and in excellent condition.
Business sponsorship is also welcome, as are cash donations which will purchase gifts to top-up the donated presents under the Christmas tree.
Donations can be placed under the Christmas trees at Council’s Service Centre on Miranda Street and the Stratford Library and Visitor Information Centre from Friday 29 November until Friday 13 December 2024.
