- Thursday, 29 August 2024, 5.30pm -7pm
- Whangamōmona Hotel, 6018 Ohura Road, Whangamōmona 4396
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is gearing up to seal the remaining 5.7km of road through the Tāngarākau Gorge this summer and they want to hear your views on traffic management while this work is underway.
The project team will be at the Whangamōmona Hotel on Thursday 29th August to speak to the community. Call in any time between 5.30pm -7pm to have a chat and share your views.
You can also find out more about 5 sculptures being erected along the route at the event. Developed by Iwi, the sculptures are being delivered as part of safety and wayfinding improvements, which has seen 1200 metres of roadside barrier installed across 11 sites, 230 safety signs erected, and improvements made to rest and stopping areas along the route.
The sculptures tell the story of legendary Māori traveller Tamatea-Pōkai-Whenua’s journey up the Whanganui River and in areas of East Taranaki. They are expected to become a key attraction, bringing more visitors to the Forgotten World Highway.
