Rates support for low-income homeowners now available to more people
The Rates Rebate Scheme can provide a partial refund on rates bills for eligible low-income homeowners.
From 1 July, new rules came into effect that widened the group of people that can apply for a rebate and increased the maximum amount people can receive.
- The maximum rebate has increased from $750 to $790.
- The income abatement threshold has risen from $30,100 to $31,510. You may still be eligible for a rebate even if you earn more than the income threshold.
It’s quick and easy to check if you’re eligible. Visit Stratford.govt.nz/RatesRebates and use the online calculator. You’ll need to know the total rates you’ll pay for the year from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.
Please call us on 06 765 6099 or visit our Service Centre on Miranda Street if you need a hand finding out if you’re eligible or with your application.
You can apply anytime between now and 30 June 2025. If you’re successful, we’ll deduct the amount of your rebate from your future rates bill. If you’ve already paid your rates in full, we’ll contact you about your rebate.
