Councillors back around the table for 2021
This week elected members had their first meeting for 2021, providing an opportunity to reflect on the last couple of months of 2020 and get stuck in to policy and bylaw reviews as they look ahead to the future of the Stratford district.
District Mayor Neil Volzke says, "With the disruptions of 2020 now behind us, we are looking ahead to a busy and much brighter year in 2021."
"Very soon we will begin our formal Long Term Plan consultation that will provide an opportunity for the community to tell council your views on levels of service, projects and set the general direction of travel over the next ten years. It is our single most important guiding document and we encourage you to participate in the consultation process," he says.
"We also look forward to progress being made on both the aquatic centre development, with work to commence in February, and children's bike park which is starting to take shape at Victoria Park and due to be open later this year," says Mayor Volzke.
"We continue to keep abreast of the nationwide response to Covid-19 too, and would like to remind people to do their part in ensuring New Zealand can continue to enjoy the luxuries of social gatherings this summer, something many around the world are missing out on."
"With our own Summer Nights concert and movies in the park coming up, we want to see our community come together and enjoy free entertainment in a safe and healthy environment," he says.
"On behalf of Council I wish everyone in the district an enjoyable 2021, and encourage you to get involved in the community where you can, contact us if you have questions or ideas and participate in opportunities to have your say on the future of the Stratford district."
