FAQs
Is the coloured powder non-toxic? What’s it made of?
It’s made of unicorn dreams of course! Nah, just kidding. The coloured powder we use is non-toxic and made of corn / maize starch with food approved dyes. No unicorn dreams have been harmed in the creation of this event.
Can I walk the distances?
We’ve got the 2.5km run/walk distance just for you. For runners, there’s the 2.5km or the 5km distances. This event is for fun, not for fast. But if you want to run and get a new personal best, we’ll be celebrating alongside you.
Can I do this event in a wheelchair or mobility scooter?
A safe route for wheelchairs and mobility scooters will be available, with some of the course including an even grassed area. This shorter route will allow you to experience 3 colour stations as well as join in for the final explosion of colour. Be prepared for a bit of wheelchair or scooter cleaning afterwards though!
Can I push a stroller?
The minimum age to take part is 5 years old and over, but if your child needs the support of a stroller during the event, we recommend using the safe route for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. It’s an easier path that’s a bit shorter than the full distances, but still fun and colourful for your child.
Why do I need to register at Eventbrite.co.nz as well as on event day?
By registering on Eventbrite, we’ll be able to see how many people are taking part so we can organise the best event possible and order enough sausages!
In addition to registering on Eventbrite, you’ll need to come to the race day registration so you can get your wristband. Our team will also make sure you have all the info you need to take part safely and have fun.
Do I need to wear a dusk mask or eye protection?
If you have a respiratory condition, please wear an appropriate dust mask during the event and consult with your doctor if you need any guidance about taking part. We recommend all our participants wear sunglasses (or their normal glasses). Not only will they add the final touches to your fit, but they’ll also offer some eye protection from the non-toxic coloured powder. Proper safety goggles are a good option too.
What should I bring?
Bring your drink bottle to refill at the event. Wear comfy clothes suitable for your method of getting to the finish line, whether that’s running, walking, or using your wheelchair or mobility scooter. A towel and change of clothes will absolutely come in handy if you’re driving home. Or keep the colour on and enjoy the quizzical looks as you walk home.
