Located in Stratford, the Percy Thomson Trust was developed through a bequest by a former district mayor and is responsible for the ongoing operation of the Percy Thomson Gallery, the Thomson Arboretum and the Thomson Herbarium.
The Trust’s purpose is to ensure the gallery, arboretum and herbarium continue to create exceptional experiences that engage, inspire, challenge and educate locals and visitors alike. The Gallery is proud to be Taranaki's best Public Regional Art Gallery and is often described by visitors as a 'hidden gem' for our region.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Percy Thomson Trust. Diversity is valued, and trustees will typically have a mix of some of the following attributes:
- Future Chair capability and leadership skills
- Legal expertise, in employment law or property
- Property management/ development or infrastructure experience
- Strong community relationships
- Experience with Charitable Trusts and Council Controlled Organisations.
The Trustees are responsible for developing and delivering the Trust’s strategic goals, overseeing the management of assets and resources, and for ensuring prudent financial management to ensure long-term sustainability.

Meetings are held monthly and successful applicants will be appointed for a three-year term. While applicants are not required to live in Stratford, the ability to build and maintain relationships within the Stratford community should be demonstrated.
