Stratford's FREE Summer Nights Concert on Saturday

Kick back and relax, or get up the front and dance? Whatever your groove, you won't want to miss this weekend's live concert in King Edward Park with our Taranaki talent, Bald Eagles, followed by national treasures, The Lady Killers, featuring Suzanne Lynch, Tina Cross, and Jackie Clarke!

Here's what you need to know

When: From 5pm, Sat 18 Jan.

Where: Rhododendron Dell, King Edward Park

Parking: Parking is available at Stratford Primary School (gold coin donation). The entry is via Regan Street (follow the signs). There is dedicated accessibility parking along Brecon Road on Saturday between 12pm and 8pm.

Food trucks: Purchase kai from Mr Kool Icecreams, Farmers Grill (slow-cooked BBQ, sides, desserts), and Safe Delites (gluten free food, chips, sweet treats and coffee).

Picnics / alcohol: You're welcome to bring a picnic and your own beverages. Alcohol is allowed, but please remember this is a family-friendly event and drink responsibly.

Be a tidy kiwi: Please use the recycling and rubbish facilities available at the event.

Umbrellas and chairs: Yes, you're welcome to bring these and get comfy, but please consider other people when choosing your spot and setting up. We want to make sure everyone can see and have a great time.

Book your bus ticket to Republic Day on Saturday & be in to win!

The Summer Nights Concert isn't the only event on this coming Saturday. Experience a day like no other at Whangamōmona Republic Day, with possum skinning, the sheep run, whip cracking, Kid's Corner, horse and cart rides, face painting, helicopter rides, and more! It's the only destination you can get a passport stamp without leaving New Zealand.

Here's what you need to know

When: 10am - 4pm, Saturday 18 January

Where: Whangamōmona - you won't miss it once you're there!

Entry fee: $10 for 15 years plus, $5 for 6-14 year olds, 5 years and under are free. Pay as you go in. If you're getting the bus, the price of your bus ticket includes your entry fee and passport.

Take the bus & be in to win. Bookings close 12pm Thursday: While you can drive yourself, getting the bus is the easy way to travel. Special buses will run from/to the Stratford War Memorial Carpark on the day - but you need to book your seat in advance. If you need convincing, everyone on the bus will go in the draw to win a Summer Nights picnic for four, filled with tasty treats to enjoy at the free Summer Nights Concert later that evening. Take cash: They say cash is king and it's no different at Republic Day. EFTPOS and ATM facilities may not be available, so it's best to take cash.
