The Summer Nights Concert isn't the only event on this coming Saturday. Experience a day like no other at Whangamōmona Republic Day, with possum skinning, the sheep run, whip cracking, Kid's Corner, horse and cart rides, face painting, helicopter rides, and more! It's the only destination you can get a passport stamp without leaving New Zealand.
Here's what you need to know
When: 10am - 4pm, Saturday 18 January
Where: Whangamōmona - you won't miss it once you're there!
Entry fee: $10 for 15 years plus, $5 for 6-14 year olds, 5 years and under are free. Pay as you go in. If you're getting the bus, the price of your bus ticket includes your entry fee and passport.
Take the bus & be in to win. Bookings close 12pm Thursday: While you can drive yourself, getting the bus is the easy way to travel. Special buses will run from/to the Stratford War Memorial Carpark on the day - but you need to book your seat in advance. If you need convincing, everyone on the bus will go in the draw to win a Summer Nights picnic for four, filled with tasty treats to enjoy at the free Summer Nights Concert later that evening. Take cash: They say cash is king and it's no different at Republic Day. EFTPOS and ATM facilities may not be available, so it's best to take cash.
