Council removes greenwaste disposal fees for storm related waste
The Stratford Transfer Station will be accepting storm related greenwaste at no charge for the next week.
Director Assets, Victoria Araba says much of our community will be busy over the coming days clearing up the mess caused by Cyclone Gabrielle, and offering free disposal helps speed this process up for residents.
Free disposal starts today Wednesday 15 February until Wednesday 22 February.
Victoria reminds people to be conscious of what they do bring, not everything can be accepted as some things are unable to be broken down. “We anticipate most people need to prune their broken trees and tidy up debris such as leaves and small branches, this is the stuff we can take, but no branches over 10cm in diameter,” she says.
Accepted Greenwaste
- Prunings (untreated branches up to 10cm in diameter)
- Lawn clippings
- Garden waste and leaves
Unacceptable Greenwaste
- Stringy plants (flaxes, cabbage trees, ponga, yucca, bamboo) - General waste
- Noxious weeds and invasive species (agapanthus, ginger plants, box thorn, Norfolk pines) - General waste
