Look after your pets these holidays
We’d like to remind all dog owners to ensure that their pets are well-controlled on our streets, in our parks and at other popular destinations in the Stratford district during the holiday period.
Many dog owners will be introducing their pets to new environments as they visit whānau and friends, and our parks and reserves in the Stratford district this summer.
Dog owners need to be extra vigilant of pets around children, at our parks and rivers, and especially where other dogs are being exercised. Visitors to the district should ensure they are familiar with dog access rules for Stratford parks and reserves.
There are some areas in Stratford where dogs are not allowed to go, and these maps are available online here.
It’s important to know that if your dog gets impounded during the holiday period, you won’t be able to pick them up until 4 January 2023.
Look after your pets, ensure your property is well fenced, use a leash in our dog walking areas, and please make sure your dog is wearing its registration tag so we can easily identify your fur baby if it does go missing.
