The TSB Pool Complex is getting ready to close its doors for good next month, as Stratford District Council gears up for the opening of Wai o Rua – Stratford Aquatic Centre.
Sunday 2 October 2022 will be the last day to make a splash in the TSB Pool Complex, before the Stratford aquatic services team makes the move to the new facility later that month.
The TSB Pool Complex holds a lot of memories for people in the Stratford community and Director Community Services, Kate Whareaitu says, “We’d like to give the pool a farewell and invite people to enjoy one last dip before doors close at 5pm on 2 October.”
“Over the weekend we’ll have music pumping and spot prizes available. With some full facility bookings in place during this last week, it’s important that you check availability before coming down for your swim,” says Kate. Visit this page or follow TSB Pool Complex on Facebook for the latest availability.
Kate says we’re closing the first week of the school holidays to have as little disruption to our pool users as possible. “It means the school term swimming programmes can be completed along with other bookings, then we will use the school holidays to get the new facility up and running for term four.”
“It’s important that staff have time between closing the current pool and opening the new one to complete staff training.”
“This is a really exciting time for our community, and we appreciate their understanding as we move into the new facility,” says Kate.
Official opening date of Wai o Rua – Stratford Aquatic Centre will be announced shortly – watch this space!
The future of the TSB Pool Complex building will be discussed with the community in 2023.
