Te Kapua Park Race Course

Stratford District has an excellent horse racing club and some of the best training facilities in New Zealand. The Stratford Race Day is held annually on 31 December.

With large spacious grounds bordered by bush and lakes and an extensive lawn area, this classic Race Day environment is ideal for picnickers. Relax in the grandstand, in front of the public stand which overlooks the winning post, or out the back beside the lake and gardens. Admission is free. Children's entertainment includes air castles, face-painting, wooden train rides and lollies. There are also free prize giveaways.

Owners wishing to stay over have ample stalls and paddocks available at the course, free of charge. A complimentary barbecue is held at the course the evening before the races (30th); all owners and their guests are welcome to attend.
