No swimming in Pātea River east of State Highway 3

Council has identified a wastewater spill into the Pātea River underneath the State Highway 3 bridge south of the Fenton Street roundabout.
No swimming notices are being erected along the river warning people not to enter the water downstream from this area.
An investigation is under way alongside Taranaki Regional Council to address the issue as quickly as possible. The Taranaki Public Health Unit and local iwi have been notified.
