Children's Bike Park

Artwork designed by Wharehoka Smith has been applied to the concrete areas of the education cycle track.

The concept of a children’s bike park was consulted on throughout the 2018-2028 Long Term Plan, and it received a lot of positive support from the community. Through the help of external funding Council is excited to see this project come to life in 2021.

Located on Victoria Park, behind the playground, the park includes a children’s cycle track for kids to learn and gain bicycle confidence, a pump track, a half basketball court and a BBQ pavilion.

Council was successful in receiving a Provincial Growth Fund grant of $2million in 2020. This means the project was able to be delivered without any input from ratepayers.

The artwork tells a story that centres around the importance of whānau and support by a community. One that works together to share and care for people and places in our district. It was designed by Wharehoka Smith and completes the finishing touches of our wonderful new community facility.
