Donations open Friday for Mayoral Christmas Gift Appeal

From this Friday 1 December, the Christmas trees at Stratford District Council and Stratford Library and Visitor Information Centre will be welcoming gift donations for the Stratford Mayoral Christmas Gift Appeal.

The Mayoral Christmas Gift Appeal is a valued tradition in Stratford, encouraging local residents to donate gifts which get delivered to deserving people in the community.

Mayor Neil Volzke says Christmas isn’t always a joyous occasion for everyone. “Many of our residents are in need of a bit of extra joy at this time of year, which is what this appeal is all about. I encourage everyone who is able to support the appeal, to please help us put a smile on faces this Christmas and donate a gift.”

Donations can be dropped off under the Christmas tree at Council’s Service Centre on Miranda Street, or at the Stratford Library and Visitor Information Centre from Friday 1 December 2023 until Friday 15 December 2023.

Visit Surveymonkey.com/r/SDC-Gift-Appeal to confidentially nominate an individual or family. Nominations close Friday 8 December 2023.

Making a donation?

Items needed include:

  • books for all ages
  • toiletries for all ages (new, not pre-loved)
  • non-perishable food (and Christmas Day treats, such as Christmas Cake, chocolate, biscuits, crackers)
  • family board games
  • summer fun toys (such as sports equipment, outdoor games, something for the beach)

If you're donating pre-loved items, please ensure they are in good condition. We are unable to take items that need repairing for this appeal. Please do not donate second-hand soft toys - we cannot accept these.

Cash donations are also welcome and will be used to purchase gifts to top up the donated presents under the Christmas tree. We welcome business sponsorship as well. Thank you for your donations.
