Funds available to give help to people in need
Did you know we've got funds available to help our older community members who require financial assistance, and our other residents too, where there's a real need for a helping hand?
Elizabeth Watson Estate Fund
Elizabeth Maree Watson, generously left funds to Stratford District Council in her will to distribute to older Stratford residents aged 65 years and over who need financial help.
Applications for support:
- Can be made at any time during the year
- Must be made in writing
- Are assessed by our District Mayor
- Need to include proof of need, including income and bank statements
The Mayor is able to decide how funds are distributed, but the support can be used for things like the purchase of clothing, and paying doctor’s accounts and domestic bills.
Mayoral Relief Fund
If you live in Stratford district, you can apply to the Mayoral Relief Fund for one-off assistance where there's a demonstrated need and if organisations like Work and Income are not able to help. Grants can also be made available to community groups and organisations at the discretion of the Mayor.
Priority will be given:
- To help families in need with food, clothing, bedding or furniture
- For school camps, and uniforms
- For medical costs
- For crisis situations as deemed by the District Mayor
