In light of the current challenges caused by COVID-19, they have considered expenditure reductions that won’t add further pain to the local economy or negatively impact the services provided.

The move to COVID-19 Alert Level 3 on Tuesday 28 April will mean Stratford readers can again access physical books from Stratford Library via a new “click and collect” contactless system.

For the first time in history, Anzac Day Services across New Zealand have been cancelled due to COVID-19. In the Stratford district, we’re supporting the RSA and New Zealand Defence Force campaign #StandAtDawn to remember those who gave their lives for our country.

Since Alert Level 4 commenced, Councillors and staff have been getting on with business, while adapting to a new way of connecting.
District Mayor Neil Volzke says the last couple of weeks of video conferencing with his peers and council officers has been a real learning curve for all, but something we’ve adapted to quickly.

Water restrictions lifted - 14 April 2020

As of Tuesday 14 April the water restrictons that were in place in Stratford, Midhirst and Toko have been lifted.
Recent rainfall means that river levels have returned to an acceptable level, and the odds and evens system is no longer in place.

Because we’re at Alert Level 4 due to COVID-19 there is a slight change to our rubbish and recycling collection.
Your general waste (red lid) collection remains the same, and will be collected every Monday as normal.
