Train as a lifeguard

The TSB Pool Stratford is offering you the opportunity to become a qualified lifeguard.
Pool Manager Andrea Mathews says, “We are running this programme with the intention of possibly finding lifeguards. Although a job offer is not guaranteed, on completion of the training, candidates will have received the Pool Lifeguard Skills Award (PLSA), which is the minimum requirement to work as a pool lifeguard in New Zealand.”
Eligibility requirements:
To train as a Pool lifeguard in New Zealand you must be at least 16 years old on the day you begin training. Candidates also need to complete a comprehensive first aid course, either before or within a month of completing the training.
The training course includes:
• Swim Test
• Pool Lifeguard Training
• Pool Lifeguard Assessment to achieve Pool Lifeguard Skills Award (PLSA).
• Pool Lifeguard Logbook – 20 hours of volunteer poolside supervision
• Pool Lifeguard Assessment – to achieve Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC)
Training days:
Monday 28 November 1 - 5pm
Tuesday 29 November 11.30am - 3pm
Thursday 1 December 10.30am - 3pm
Friday 2 December 11am - 2pm
The cost for the course is $250.00 which includes registration and the cost of the training by staff.
