Stratford District Council adopted its 2019/20 Annual Report at its Ordinary Meeting in October 2020. A four page summary and the full report can be viewed online here.
Year three of the 2018-2028 Long Term Plan has been an interrupted year, says Chief Executive Sven Hanne. “When we planned for 2019/20, no-one knew that our community would spend a third of the financial year in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic.”
“This impacted our community in different ways and equally affected some of Council’s delivery of services and capital projects,” he says.
“However, despite the uncertainties and disruptions Covid-19 caused, we’re pleased to be able to report on a number of achievements from the past year – including our response to the pandemic locally,” says Mr Hanne.
The report notes highlights from the last year as the opening of Council’s subdivision off Pembroke Road and sections selling well, funding confirmation to seal the unsealed section of State Highway 43 which will enable increased tourism into the district, Council’s involvement in Taranaki’s response to Covid-19, progress on the pool development and children’s bike park and once again achieving full compliance for drinking water.
“The year ahead looks equally exciting and challenging with an increased programme of works due to recent government funding and the delivery of existing Long Term Plan commitments,” said Mr Hanne.
