Draft Long Term Plan
The draft Long Term Plan for 2009-2019 has progressed to the stage of considering submissions. The Council are listening to those who wish to speak to their submission at 10am on Thursday 7th May and commencing to discuss any possible changes to the draft LTCCP on Thursday 14th May.
Thank you to all who took the time to make a submission and express your opinion on the future of Stratford.
Roading
Roads recently graded include Tututawa, Soldiers, Perry, Tauwharenikau, Mangaehu, Puniwhakau and Upper Mangaehu. Vegetation trimming has been carried out on Wawiri, Makuri, Kota, Stanley, Manu, Kupe, Standish, Barleymans, Upper Mangaehu, Popuanui, Croydon, Tuna, Raupuha, Ahuroa, Manganui and Pembroke including the National Park.
Maintenance metalling was undertaken on Mangamaire, Kirai, Huiakama and Favier.
The Mangapapa Rd seal extension (5km) is almost complete. Work has started on the replacement of broken sections of footpath in the urban area.
As part of the minor safety improvements programme the SH43/Kohuratahi and SH43/Whitianga intersections have been sealed as well as the approaches to two bridges on Kohuratahi Rd. The traffic calming work is underway at the intersection of Regan and Miranda St.
Building Work
March saw 36 building consents, bringing the year to date total to 251 compared to 253 in the previous year. The value of the building work is $15,614,671 compared to $15,203,201 in the previous year.
Regulatory
Dog complaints for the year are at 219, compared to 255 the previous year. Dogs impounded are 58 compared to 53, with dogs reclaimed at 33 compared to 41.
Noise complaints are at 120 compared to 135 and smoke complaints at 19 compared to 35. Abandoned cars are 7 compared to 18 last year.
Consents
Resource consents are at 49, consisting of 26 landuse and 23 subdivision. Last year saw 93 consents made up of 38 landuse and 55 subdivisions. The year prior to that saw 99, made up of 29 landuse and 70 subdivisions.
