Elections
Nominations for District Mayor and nine councillors open on 23rd July 2010 and close 20th August 2010.
Any person thinking of standing should be making the effort to find out what they are standing for. Over the years around the country there are many cases of people finding out that the job of an elected member is different from what they thought.
The Policy and Services meeting at 3pm on July 27th would be a good start to come and observe. Agendas for previous meetings are available on the website and at the library.
A potential candidates evening is scheduled for 19th July in Stratford.
Community Survey
We received 587 replies to the annual community survey. The full results are published in this paper.
The health area – with the current issues around the availability of doctors – generated a large number of comments. These concerns have been sent by Council to the various health sector organisations.
Another item that attracted comment was the vegetation in the centre of the roundabouts. This has been removed, and will be replaced with plants that grow to a lesser height. Utilitarianism before beauty.
Also of interest were the answers to the questions of comparing things to three years ago – and the large number who responded that they were new to Stratford.
Community Grants Fund
Applications are open to the community grants fund, and close on 30th July. Please contact the service centre for an application form.
