Currently a Service Analysis is being conducted with individuals and organisations that provide for Stratford youth. All youth service providers are being asked to complete a questionnaire giving information about their service.
The information from this service analysis will identify a map of youth services in Stratford and identify any gaps within these available services.
“It is important that any individual or organization that provides a service to young people within the Stratford area complete the questionnaire. This will ensure that a comprehensive map of what services are provided within Stratford is created”, Youth Initiatives Facilitator Ellen Hall said.
As planning continues for the establishment of a youth centre this information will be used to create programmes and services which mitigate the gaps identified.
Ellen Hall says, “People have been great so far with returning the questionnaires, showing a real positive response for the future of Stratford youth. We are really looking forward to the end result”.
The Project Management Group is calling for any Youth Service Provider who has not been contacted regarding this to please get in touch with Ellen Hall on 06 765 6099 or ehall@stratford.govt.nz
This project is a result of a lot of hard work done by the Stratford District Youth Council. The Youth Council has also been working with a Project Management Group, which includes a variety of community individuals who have a passion for youth, and have been meeting regularly to progress the project.
The service analysis is part of Phase Two of the Focus On Youth Project. This Phase is the development of a project plan for potentially establishing a youth centre. It will address where a Youth Centre will be, how much it will cost, where it will be located, and who will run it.
This follows on from the feasibility study conducted in 2009 which further determined the need of a Youth Centre in Stratford. A lot of consultation was done during this study and resulted in the Focus On Youth Feasibility Study Report produced in November 2009. This report is available on the Stratford District Council website, www.stratford.govt.nz.
