Youth Councils in New Zealand provide young people with a voice, and give them an opportunity to represent the views of their peers in the community.
The Stratford District Youth Council is designed to serve youth of the district through strong and positive leadership, providing recreational, social and educational facilities and services.
The Youth Council comprises up to 15 young people aged between 12 and 24 years of age who live, work, or go to school in Stratford.
We aim to represent a wide range of ethnicities, occupations, ages and backgrounds.
What does the Youth Council do?
The Stratford District Youth Council works to make Stratford a more positive environment for youth. They do this by speaking on behalf of youth, creating and participating in local events, and working towards solving youth issues.
When do Youth Council meet?
The Stratford District Youth Council meets twice-monthly, on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. At meetings Youth Councillors discuss ideas, projects and submissions relating to youth.
