From 1 July 2013 the TSB Pool Complex has come under Council's management. While it is mostly business as usual users can expect to have better access along with a few new toys over the next few months.

Council's Assets Manager Vicki Jagersma says, "We welcome Andrea Wilkie to the position of Pool Manager. In saying this we would like to thank and acknowledge Sue Stannard for the sterling management services which she has provided over the past 6 years. We continue to have a good working relationship with Sue and her Silver Jets swim school. We wish her all the very best for the future."

New Pool Manager Andrea Wilkie says, "I'm excited about the new opportunities that come with managing this pool and working with my new team of qualified lifeguards."

Andrea, who hails from Auckland, has a strong background in pool management. She spent her younger years going through learn to swim programmes which led to working as an instructor, swim school manager then onto managing aquatic centres. "My passion is teaching kids to have fun and be safe aroundthe water. Experiencing the water and having fun in it, have always been my main focus. We live in such a great country with a lot of water based activities, and I really want to be able to teach people to be as safe as possible around water." Andrea and partner Mike moved to Stratford for work and are looking forward to being part of the Stratford community. "We really like the lifestyle that goes along with being part of a community like Stratford", says Andrea.

So what changes can you expect to see? There is a new merchandise area at the entrance to the pool, which features Aqualine goggles and swimwear. From Monday 29 July pool hours will be more consistent, with daily lane swimming and daily activities during the school holidays and weekends. Pool users will see more toys, more often including beach balls, volleyball and old and new inflatable toys. A slide is set to be installed in the little pool and keep an eye out for a rock climbing wall which will be installed sometime in the next few months.

The decision to bring the pool management in house was made based on the financial cost benefits which showed savings for ratepayers.
