We are responsible for the maintenance of local roads. This includes streetlights, cycle lanes /cycle ways, footpaths, seating and other street furniture, pedestrian crossings and ramps, road signs, road markings, repair and maintenance of existing kerb and channel, street cleaning, traffic signals, service covers (e.g. manhole covers, grates) and maintaining vegetation on road sides. The clean up of spillages such as diesel on local roads, crash response and debris cleanup is also done by us.
VEGETATION MAINTENANCE
To eradicate any pest plants and hinder vegetation growth to ensure safe sight distances, we use chemical sprays on drains, around marker posts and signs, bridge ends, and culvert pipes.
Residents can ask for their property frontage to be a 'no spray zone', providing you manage the vegetation growth and pest plants at your own cost. The council will work with you to ensure the maintenance meets safety requirements.
